Indy Win and Successful Test
for Adams Performance/Kawasaki
“Jermey
Teasley showed once again why he is one of the baddest riders on the
planet,” said Coby Adams, boss of the Adams Performance / Monster
Kawasaki team. Teenager Teasley qualified number one and ran low
elapsed time every round on his way to the BST Real Street win at the
AMA Dragbike Pingel Thundernationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park in
Indianapolis.
Touching
180 mph is a real and rare accomplishment for most entries in the
class, but Teasley topped 188 in qualifying on his nitrous huffing,
Michelin Power One-equipped, Friction Unlimited Kawasaki ZX14. Teasley
capped the weekend off with a 7.999 lap in his final round victory over
drag racing superstar and former Adams Performance rider Chip Ellis.
“We’re taking the points lead and not looking back,” said Adams. “Now
we are set on making an impressive run in the MIRock points chase also,
with Rockingham coming up this weekend. We’ve set our sights on the
7.80 barrier and going over 190mph.
“Jeremy
was on all weekend. His lights, his 60 foots—he is doing a great job on
our Kawasakis. He also did very well against his teammate Rickey Gadson
in Supersport.” Teasley runner-upped to Gadson in yet another tight,
all-ZX14 final in the closely matched Dragbike.com Supersport class. In
fact, from the very start of the ’09 racing season, Kawasaki ZX14s have
dominated AMA Dragbike’s Supersport, Real Street, and Super Street
classes. “Our Kawasaki partners, Chris Jones and rider John Fernandez,
have absolutely dominated Super Street. A big shout-out to them for
what they’ve been able to accomplish with that turbo ZX14.”
By
the way, the turbo ’14 that Adams Performance built for Teasley and
Gadson to campaign in Super Street has been parked and put up for sale
while the team concentrates on the other classes. Anyone looking for a
top shelf, race-prepped, turbo ZX14 streetbike should contact Adams
ASAP.
Speaking
of turbo ZX14s, the Adams Performance team completely rebuilt their
already brand new bike that Gadson rides in Orient Express Pro Street.
“We knew we would have our hands full with a completely new set-up on
the Monster Energy Pro Street bike,” said Adams. “We got done with it
Thursday and drove all night to Brownsburg, Indiana. Chip Ellis put the
bike on the Vance & Hines dyno with Devin Pearce from AEM. We got
some promising data from the dyno runs and went straight to the track.”
By
the end of the weekend, Gadson’s riding and Adams’ tuning had the bike
running competitive numbers. “Rickey always does an impressive job
riding anything you put him on. From the wheelies he had to deal with
on the brute-powerful Pro Street bike to his graceful control in
Supersport, Rickey is a bad man. He pretty much has another Supersport
championship wrapped up, and next year will be one in Pro Street.
“With
the new turbo supplied by Joe and Harry Hruska from Precision Turbo and
Engine, power definitely isn't an issue with the Pro Street bike. The
turbo spools and makes boost faster and easier now than ever. Once we
get the bugs worked out by the next race, this Monster will be one of
the bikes to beat.
